Working Principle:
During rapid deceleration or overhauling load conditions, the servo motor acts as a generator. The regenerated energy raises the DC bus voltage. When the bus voltage reaches the overvoltage threshold (typically ~410 VDC for a 300 VDC system, ~780 VDC for a 480 VDC system — consult drive manual), the drive activates the brake chopper. Excess energy is routed to the external brake resistor, where it is converted to heat and dissipated by convection.
Applicable Industries: Heavy-duty CNC machines, gantry systems, cranes, hoists, large-inertia conveyor systems, wind turbine pitch control
Installation Requirements:
- Mount in well-ventilated enclosure with minimum 150 mm clearance on all sides
- Use 16 mm² minimum copper cable for connections
- Connect to drive brake output terminals (B1, B2) — observe polarity
- Do not install near flammable or heat-sensitive materials
Usage Notes:
- Derate power by 1.5% per °C above 25°C ambient temperature
- Do not operate above 600 VDC — risk of insulation breakdown and fire
- For continuous full-load operation, install forced-air cooling fan to maintain element temperature below 125°C
- This 2000 W variant is rated for higher-inertia loads than the BE2-090-14 (1400 W) variant
