Working Principle:
During motor deceleration or braking, the servo drive switches to generator mode. The kinetic energy of the rotating load is converted to electrical energy and fed back into the DC bus. If the bus voltage exceeds the overvoltage threshold, the drive activates the brake chopper circuit, which routes excess energy to the external brake resistor. The resistor converts this electrical energy into heat, which is dissipated by natural convection.

Applicable Industries: CNC machines, cranes and hoists, elevators, conveyor systems (high-inertia loads), winding machines

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount in well-ventilated enclosure — minimum 100 mm clearance on all sides
  • Do not install near flammable materials
  • Use 10 mm² minimum copper cable for connections
  • Connect to drive brake output terminals (B1, B2) — observe polarity

Usage Notes:

  • Derate power by 1.5% per °C above 25°C ambient
  • Do not operate above 600 VDC — will cause insulation failure and fire hazard
  • Ensure enclosure has adequate ventilation or forced air cooling for continuous operation
