Kollmorgen BDS4-206J-202C

Product Introduction:
The BDS4 (Brushless Digital Servo) amplifier is an earlier-generation Kollmorgen digital servo drive for 2- or 3-phase brushless servo motors. The BDS4-206J-202C is a 6 A continuous (≈12 A peak) model with specific I/O configuration (J = I/O option, 202C = firmware/hardware revision). This product line has been discontinued and replaced by AKD or S300/S700 series.

Typical Specifications (BDS4-206 family):
  • DC Bus Voltage: typically 160–320 VDC (from external rectified AC supply or DC source)
  • Continuous Output Current: 6 Arms; Peak: ~12 Arms
  • Control Logic Supply: +24 VDC (±10%)
  • PWM Frequency: ~15–20 kHz
  • Feedback Supported: Resolver, Hall sensors, incremental encoder (model dependent)
  • Control Modes: Torque, Velocity (via ±10 V analog command)
  • Protections: Over-current, over-temperature, under-voltage lockout
  • Mounting: Panel mount with heatsink; forced air cooling may be required
Notes:
  • Obsolete — Kollmorgen recommends AKD or S300 as retrofit replacements
  • Requires external DC bus capacitor and mains rectifier
  • Commissioning via onboard DIP switches and potentiometers or serial interface (if equipped)
