KOLLMORGEN B-604-C-31-B3
Product Classification: Dynamic Braking Resistor — B-Series, Chassis Mount
Product Introduction:
The B-604-C-31-B3 is a dynamic braking resistor used with Kollmorgen AKD and AKM series servo drives to dissipate regenerative energy during deceleration or overhauling loads. The “B3” suffix indicates a 31 Ω resistance value with 600 W power rating in a chassis-mount aluminum housing.

Functional Features:
- Aluminum housing — excellent heat dissipation, no external fan required
- Thermal protection switch — opens circuit at 250°C, auto-resets on cool-down
- Screw terminal connections — tool-free wiring
- Compact chassis-mount form factor — fits in standard control cabinet
Applicable Industries:
- Vertical axis servo drives (Z-axis with gravity load)
- High-inertia flywheel systems
- Rapid deceleration applications (pick-and-place, packaging)
- Overhauling load conveyors
Model Series: B-Series — Braking Resistor Family
Installation Requirements:
- Mount in ventilated area — minimum 50 mm clearance on all sides
- Connect to drive brake chopper terminals (B+, B-)
- Use 4 mm² minimum copper wire for connections
- Do not block airflow around resistor body
Usage Notes:
- Resistor will become extremely hot during braking — do not touch during operation
- Verify resistance value matches drive configuration (31 Ω for 120–240 VAC input drives)
- If thermal cutoff trips repeatedly, increase deceleration time or add external forced-air cooling
- Do not use with drives rated above 560 VDC bus voltage
