Detailed content

Description & Principle:
Rare-earth (Neodymium) permanent magnet rotor, low-inertia laminated stator for fast acceleration. Designed for 230 VAC (320 VDC bus) or optionally 400 V (BH versions). Commutated by resolver or encoder feedback via compatible Kollmorgen SERVOSTAR/S200/S300/S400/S600/S700/AKD drives.
Typical B-402 Parameters (reference values for B-402-C variant — B-402-BD similar class):
  • Continuous (Stall) Torque @ 40 °C: ~6.8 Nm (B-402-B/C class)
  • Peak Torque: ~13–19 Nm (model dependent)
  • Rated Speed @ Rated Power: 3000–5000 rpm (typical); max operating speed up to 6000–6200 rpm
  • Rated Power: ~2.2–2.8 kW (3 HP class)
  • Winding Voltage: Typically 230 VAC (320 VDC bus) — verify on nameplate
  • Feedback: Usually resolver (TS may indicate special feedback/resolver type — confirm from motor label)
  • Insulation Class: H (180 °C)
  • Built-in Thermostat: Yes (normally closed thermal switch)
Construction:
  • Frame: Cast / fabricated steel or aluminum with finned housing for convection cooling
  • Shaft: Keyed or smooth — check nameplate; typically keyed for B series
  • Mounting: NEMA flange or metric pilot; foot or face mount per config
  • Connector: MS-type circular or terminal box per option
  • Brake: None unless “-B” suffix present
Environmental:
  • Protection: Typically IP65 (sealed bearings, shaft seal)
  • Ambient: 0 to +40 °C (housing); winding up to 155 °C
  • Weight: ~7–10 kg (frame 402 class)
Installation & Notes:
  • Goldline B is legacy — verify winding voltage matches drive DC bus (320 VDC for 230 VAC wound motors; 565/680 VDC for 400 VAC BH versions).
  • Use resolver compensation if pairing with modern digital drives.
  • Replace bearings at recommended interval for high-duty-cycle applications.
  • Do not operate above nameplate max speed; check inertia match with load.
Applications: Machine tools, printing presses, converting, coil winding, web processing, robotics (legacy retrofits).
