Kollmorgen B-102-A-29-02

Product Description:
The B-102-A-29-02 is a compact, low-inertia permanent magnet brushless DC (BLDC/PMSM) servo motor from Kollmorgen’s legacy Goldline B family. Frame size 102 (≈ 2.36″ / 60 mm flange), winding A (230 VAC line-to-line), stack length 2, with resolver feedback and standard NEMA/metric mount. Designed for rapid acceleration/deceleration cycles.

Detailed content

Technical Specifications (B-102 Frame Typical):
  • Motor Type: 3-phase permanent magnet synchronous servo motor (PMSM/BLDC)
  • Frame Size: B-102 (≈ 60 mm square flange, 10 mm shaft dia.)
  • Rated Voltage (Line): 230 VAC (B/M series — max bus 320 VDC)
  • Continuous Stall Torque (Tc): ≈ 0.59 Nm (typical for B-102×2 stack)
  • Peak Torque (Tp): ≈ 1.77 Nm
  • Max Speed: up to 6000–7500 RPM (winding-dependent)
  • Rotor Inertia: Very low — optimized for dynamic response
  • Feedback Device: Resolver (standard for “-29-02” config)
  • Insulation Class: H (180 °C)
  • Thermal Protection: Built-in thermostat (usually N.C. opens on overtemp)
  • Enclosure / Sealing: IP65 (with shaft seal)
  • Mounting: Flange (NEMA or metric), keyed shaft, rear shaft extension optional
  • Brake Option: None on std -A-29-02 (brake variants have -B- prefix or 24 VDC brake option)
  • Connectors: MS-style or flying leads (config dependent)
Construction & Materials:
  • Neodymium iron boron (NdFeB) rare-earth magnets in rotor
  • Laminated silicon-steel stator stack with Class H enameled copper windings
  • Aluminum alloy housing with black epoxy finish
  • Stainless steel shaft with keyway
Working Principle:
Stator 3-phase windings energized by servo drive create rotating magnetic field; rotor PMs align → produces smooth, high-torque-density rotation. Resolver provides analog position/speed feedback for commutation and closed-loop control.
Applications:
Small pick-and-place robots, component inserters, medical diagnostic stages, packaging minor axes, laser head positioning.
Installation & Precautions:
  • Align coupling to avoid side loads exceeding radial/axial limits.
  • Ground motor frame to cabinet earth.
  • Connect resolver shielding to drive-side PE only (star grounding).
  • Do NOT disconnect motor phases while drive is powered — risk of damage.
  • Allow motor to cool; check thermostat wiring for overtemperature protection.
