  • Back-EMF Constant (Ke): 7.76 V/krpm
  • Mechanical Time Constant: 5.2 ms
  • Electrical Time Constant: 1.8 ms
  • Rotor Inertia: 0.45 × 10⁻⁴ kg·m²
  • Torque-to-Inertia Ratio: High — optimized for rapid acceleration

Material Composition:

  • Stator Core: Silicon steel laminations (0.35 mm thickness)
  • Windings: Copper wire, Class F insulation (polyimide)
  • Magnets: Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB), Grade N42SH
  • Housing: Anodized aluminum alloy (6061-T6)
  • Shaft: Hardened stainless steel (AISI 420)
  • Bearings: Dual sealed ball bearings (lubricated for life)
  • Connector Housing: Polyamide (PA66), glass-fiber reinforced

Structural Features:

  • Cylindrical stator with internal rotor configuration
  • Flange mounting with 4× M4 threaded holes (42mm bolt circle)
  • Radial shaft output with keyway for coupling
  • IP65 sealed design with labyrinth seal at shaft exit
  • M23 connector at rear of housing for signal and power

Working Principle:
The motor operates on the principle of electronic commutation. The Hall sensors detect rotor position and the drive electronics sequentially energize the three stator windings to produce a rotating magnetic field. The permanent magnet rotor follows this field, producing continuous rotation. The integrated EnDat 2.2 encoder provides absolute position data to the servo drive for closed-loop control.

Advantages & Highlights:

  • High torque density in compact 42mm frame
  • Absolute encoder eliminates homing requirement
  • Wide speed range from 0 to 6000 RPM
  • Excellent thermal management with Class F insulation
  • Robust IP65 protection for industrial environments

Applicable Industries:

  • Semiconductor manufacturing equipment
  • Medical devices and lab automation
  • Packaging machinery
  • Robotics (small to medium payload)
  • Print and converting equipment
  • Pick-and-place systems

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount using 4× M4 bolts on 42mm bolt circle pattern
  • Ensure shaft coupling is properly aligned (angular misalignment < 0.1°, axial < 0.05 mm)
  • Connect M23 connector to compatible AKD or AKM drive
  • Ground the motor housing to chassis ground

Usage Notes:

  • Do not exceed peak current for more than 5 seconds continuously
  • Ensure adequate ventilation or forced cooling at high duty cycles
  • Do not disassemble the motor — internal magnets are brittle
  • Use only Kollmorgen-approved cables with M23 connectors
