Kollmorgen AKM2G-23D-ACD2

Product Introduction:
The AKM2G-23D-ACD2 is part of Kollmorgen’s second-generation AKM2G high-performance brushless servo motor family. It delivers higher torque density, lower cogging, and improved thermal performance compared to legacy AKM motors. Frame 23 = 58 mm square flange.

Detailed content

Technical Specifications (Typical for AKM2G-23):
  • Rated / Continuous Stall Torque (Tc): ≈ 1.50 Nm (13.3 lb-in)
  • Peak Torque (Tp): ≈ 4.73–5.85 Nm depending on winding
  • Maximum Speed: up to 8000 rpm
  • Rotor Inertia (Jm): ≈ 0.217 ×10⁻⁴ kg·m² (0.217 kg·cm²)
  • Winding Voltage Class: 120/240 VAC (standard industrial winding; D = specific winding code)
  • Feedback Device: Indicated by “ACD2” — typically SFD (Smart Feedback Device) or EnDat-capable incremental/absolute encoder
  • Shaft: Smooth shaft with or without keyway (check sub-suffix; usually closed keyway or smooth)
  • Brake: None unless “-B” option present
  • Degree of Protection: IP65 (with shaft seal), IP67 optional washdown version
  • Insulation Class: F (155 °C), 100 °C temp rise over 40 °C ambient
  • Housing Material: Black anodized aluminum; stator laminations low-loss silicon steel
Structural Features:
  • 8-pole or multi-pole optimized magnetic design
  • Intercontec connector (rotatable or straight)
  • Flange drilled to IECmetric standard (M4 or M5 mounting bolts)
  • Optional food-grade grease & smooth stainless finish available in washdown variants
Working Principle:
A 3-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) driven by sinusoidal PWM from a compatible servo drive (AKD, S700). Rotor position is fed back via optical or magnetic encoder for closed-loop commutation.
Applications:
  • Packaging machinery, pick-and-place robots, semiconductor handlers, printing presses, material handling, AGV auxiliary axes
Installation & Notes:
  • Mount on machined face with concentricity ≤ 0.05 mm TIR
  • Align connector before tightening; torque to spec
  • Do not disconnect motor power while drive is enabled
  • Use Kollmorgen WorkBench auto-tuning for optimal performance
