Kollmorgen AKI-CDT-MOD-10
Product Introduction:
The AKI-CDT-MOD-10 is a pre-configured motor feedback and power cable assembly from Kollmorgen’s AKI cable product line. The “CDT” designation indicates a cable with motor-side connector, drive-side connector, and integrated temperature sensor (thermistor). The “MOD-10” specifies a cable length of 10 meters. This cable is designed for connecting Kollmorgen servo motors to AKD/AKD-P/AKD2G servo drives.

Structural Features:
- Single continuous cable assembly with factory-terminated connectors
- Integrated PTC thermistor wire for motor temperature monitoring
- Double-shielded construction for EMI immunity
- Oil-resistant outer jacket (PUR polyurethane)
- Strain relief boots at both connector ends
- Color-coded conductors per IEC 60309 standard
Material Composition:
- Conductors: Oxygen-free copper (OFC), tinned for corrosion resistance
- Insulation: Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE)
- Outer Jacket: Polyurethane (PUR), oil and abrasion resistant
- Shield: Tinned copper braid (85% coverage) + aluminum foil
- Connectors: Nickel-plated brass (M23, IP67 rated)
- Thermistor: PTC ceramic element with PVC insulated leads
Working Principle:
The cable transmits three-phase power from the servo drive to the motor and carries high-speed differential encoder feedback signals from the motor encoder back to the drive. The double shielding prevents electromagnetic interference from corrupting the feedback signal. The integrated PTC thermistor provides real-time motor winding temperature data to the drive for thermal protection.
Functional Features:
- Factory-terminated — plug-and-play installation
- Compatible with EnDat 2.2, Hiperface DSL, and BiSS encoder protocols
- PTC thermistor enables drive-based motor thermal monitoring
- Oil-resistant jacket suitable for machining environments
- Pre-tested for signal integrity at full rated length
Advantages:
- Eliminates field termination errors — factory-tested and certified
- 10-meter length covers most machine configurations
- Integrated thermistor provides motor protection without separate sensor wiring
- Double shielding ensures reliable feedback in high-EMI environments
- Oil-resistant jacket extends service life in harsh conditions
Applicable Industries:
- All Kollmorgen servo motor applications
- CNC machines
- Packaging equipment
- Robotics
- Printing presses
Installation Requirements:
- Route cable away from high-current power cables (min 100 mm separation)
- Maintain minimum bend radius of 75 mm at connectors
- Do not twist or kink cable during installation
- Connect motor-side M23 connector to motor feedback port first, then drive-side to drive
- Verify thermistor continuity (10 kΩ ±20% at 25°C) before commissioning
Usage Notes:
- Do not cut or modify cable — use full length or replace with new assembly
- Maximum recommended length for EnDat 2.2: 30 m (this cable is 10 m, well within spec)
- Replace cable if outer jacket shows cracking, cutting, or oil saturation
- Store coiled (min 300 mm diameter) when not in use
