Kollmorgen AKD-P04807-NCP

Product Series: AKD-P (AKD Performance — High-Bandwidth Servo Drive)

Product Introduction:
The AKD-P04807-NCP is the highest-I/O-count variant of the AKD-P04807 high-performance servo drive. It combines the 5 kHz bandwidth and 25 kHz current loop of the AKD-P family with an extended digital and analog I/O configuration, making it suitable for complex machines requiring both high dynamic performance and extensive I/O connectivity.

Key Differences from AKD-P04807-NCE:

Feature NCE NCP
Digital Inputs 16 24
Digital Outputs 8 12
Analog Inputs 2 4
Analog Outputs 2 2 (same)
Control Loop 5.0 kHz 5.0 kHz (same)
Current Loop 25 kHz 25 kHz (same)

Cam Profiles 64 64 (same)

Functional Features:

  • Maximum I/O count in AKD-P family — 24 digital inputs, 12 digital outputs, 4 analog inputs.
  • 5 kHz bandwidth + extended I/O — the only AKD-P variant with both.
  • 4 analog inputs — supports multi-sensor analog monitoring (pressure, temperature, force) alongside motion control.
  • 24 digital inputs — accommodates complex safety circuits, part presence sensors, and interlocks.
  • Same high-performance motion control as all AKD-P variants.

Working Principle:
Identical to AKD-P04807-NCE — three-phase PWM servo amplifier with 400 MHz DSP, 25 kHz current loop, 5 kHz position/velocity loop. The extended I/O is handled by an additional FPGA-based I/O processor that operates independently of the main motion DSP, ensuring I/O scanning does not affect servo loop timing.

Structural Features:

  • Same form factor as AKD-B and AKD-P — drop-in compatible.
  • Enhanced heatsink (same as AKD-P).
  • Additional terminal block on the drive for extended I/O connections.

Material Composition:

  • Same as AKD-P04807-NCE.
  • Additional I/O terminal block: Phoenix Contact or equivalent, UL Listed.

Advantages:

  • Best of both worlds: 5 kHz bandwidth + maximum I/O.
  • Eliminates need for external I/O modules on complex machines.
  • FPGA-based I/O — zero jitter on I/O scanning, independent of motion loop.
  • Drop-in compatible with all AKD-B and AKD-P variants.

Applicable Industries:

  • All AKD-P applications, plus:
  • Stamping and pressing machines (many sensors + high dynamics).
  • Multi-station transfer lines (high I/O count + synchronized axes).
  • Injection molding with multi-cavity monitoring (analog pressure sensors + high-speed clamp control).
  • Automotive assembly robots (many safety I/O + high-speed motion).

Installation Requirements:

  • Identical to AKD-P04807-NCE.
  • Use additional terminal blocks for extended I/O — Kollmorgen part number: AKD-TB-EXT.
  • Route I/O cables separately from motor cables — minimum 100mm separation to prevent EMI coupling.
  • Ground all analog input shields at the drive end only — single-point grounding.

Usage Precautions:

  • Identical to AKD-P04807-NCE, plus:
  • Assign I/O points in Workbench before power-up — incorrect mapping causes unexpected machine behavior.
  • Do not exceed 24VDC on any I/O terminal — will damage I/O processor.
  • Analog inputs are ±10V only — do not apply 0–20V or 4–20mA without external signal conditioning.
  • Derate current 10% per 10°C above 40°C ambient (same as all AKD drives).
