Kollmorgen AKD-P02407-NBE

Product Introduction
The AKD-P02407 is a high-power member of the AKD family, offering industry-leading performance with a 240-480VAC input. It features a position indexer for standalone motion tasks and includes an internal regenerative braking resistor. The “-NBE” suffix specifies EtherCAT communication, internal regen, and specific I/O configurations.

  • Position Indexer: Stores and executes complex motion sequences without a master controller.
Material & Structure
  • Housing: Rigid metal chassis, IP20.
  • Connections: Detachable screw terminals for power/brake/I/O; D-sub (9/15 pin) for feedback; RJ45/RJ25 for network.
  • Dimensions: Wider format approx. 96-100 mm width (due to 24A rating), height ~248-256 mm, depth ~228 mm.
  • Weight: Approx. 3.7 – 11.5 kg depending on width config.
Working Principle
Uses a dual-processor architecture to manage high-speed control loops. The drive receives EtherCAT frames for cyclic data exchange and executes motion profiles stored in the indexer. It modulates the IGBT inverter bridge to synthesize the required voltage vectors, managing DC bus energy via the internal regen resistor when decelerating.
Installation Requirements
  • Requires substantial clearance for cooling (vertical mount mandatory).
  • 3-phase supply must be sized for 16kW+ continuous with appropriate fusing/disconnect.
  • Motor cable shielding is critical at 24A to prevent EMI; use Kollmorgen-recommended cables.
  • Earth ground connection must be low impedance (<0.1 ohm).
  • Internal regen resistor has energy dissipation limits; verify if external resistor is needed for high-inertia loads.
Usage Notes
  • 24A continuous rating requires ambient temp 0-40°C (derating applies above).
  • Do not exceed 528VAC input; overvoltage faults will occur.
  • Firmware must match WorkBench version for full feature access.
  • STO function should be wired and validated for personnel safety.
Applications
Large format printing, injection molding machines, heavy-duty robots, aerospace test rigs, metal cutting CNC, material handling gantries.
