Kollmorgen AKD-P02406-NCC
Product Overview:
The AKD-P02406-NCC is a 2.4 kW (3 HP) AKD-P servo drive. The “NCC” suffix indicates EtherCAT + CANopen command interface with EnDat 2.2 single-turn absolute encoder feedback and CANopen secondary feedback path. This configuration is typically used in dual-feedback or safety-redundant architectures.

Functional Features:
- Dual-feedback architecture — EnDat 2.2 for primary motion control, CANopen SDS for safety monitoring
- Safe Torque Off (STO) via CANopen — SIL 3 / PL e compliant
- Redundant position verification — cross-checks EnDat position against CANopen SDS
- Full AKD motion library — profiles, cams, gearing, web guide, flying shear
- EtherCAT distributed clock — multi-axis synchronization < 1 µs
Performance Parameters:
- Positioning Accuracy: ±1 EnDat count (±0.044°)
- Current Loop Bandwidth: 1.8 kHz
- Velocity Loop Bandwidth: 400 Hz
- Torque Response Time: < 5 ms (0 to 100% rated torque)
Material Composition:
- Same as AKD-P02406-NCP
- Additional CAN transceiver: ISO 11898-2 compliant, galvanically isolated
Structural Features:
- Same form factor as all AKD-P drives
- Additional CAN connector on bottom (M12 4-pin) for safety feedback
- Front panel indicators: Power, Ready, Fault, Warning, STO Active
Working Principle:
Primary motion control uses EnDat 2.2 absolute feedback at 16 kHz. Simultaneously, a secondary CANopen SDS (Safety Drive Profile) channel monitors position and status at 100 Hz. If the secondary channel detects a discrepancy or safety violation, it commands STO via the CANopen SDO/PDO mechanism, cutting motor torque within 10 ms.
Advantages & Highlights:
- Safety-rated architecture without external safety relay
- Dual-feedback provides position integrity verification
- SIL 3 / PL e achievable without additional hardware
- Full EtherCAT performance retained
Applicable Industries:
- Presses and stamping machines (safety-critical)
- Robot cells with collaborative robot integration
- Packaging machines with safety gates
- Any application requiring functional safety per IEC 61508 / ISO 13849
Installation Requirements:
- Connect EnDat 2.2 encoder cable (shielded, max 10m)
- Connect CANopen safety cable (M12, shielded, max 30m)
- Configure safety parameters in Workbench: Safe Speed, Safe Torque, STO response time
- Perform safety validation per IEC 61508 before production use
Usage Notes:
- The CANopen safety channel is independent — do not share cable with EtherCAT
- Perform safety validation with a certified assessment tool
- Update both EtherCAT and CANopen firmware simultaneously
- Test STO response time with oscilloscope before going live
