Material Composition:

  • Housing: Aluminum die-cast, powder-coated
  • PCB: FR-4, conformal coated, 6-layer
  • Connectors: M23 industrial-grade (motor + I/O)
  • Power Stage: IGBT modules with integrated freewheeling diodes
  • Heat Sink: Extruded aluminum fins integrated into housing

Structural Features:

  • DIN rail or panel mount
  • Single M23 connector (motor power + encoder + Hall sensors + I/O)
  • LED indicators: Power, Fault, Ready, Warning
  • Removable terminal block for field wiring
  • NCC variant includes Hall sensor input for BLDC commutation

Working Principle:
DSP-based servo control with three nested loops (current → velocity → position). For BLDC motors (NCC mode), Hall sensor inputs provide commutation timing; drive generates six-step commutation. For AC servo motors, encoder provides sinusoidal commutation via FOC. EtherCAT master interface enables distributed I/O and coordinated multi-axis motion.

Key Advantages:

  • 7A continuous current — handles medium-to-large servo motors
  • NCC option — supports both BLDC (Hall) and AC servo (encoder) motors on same drive
  • EtherCAT native — seamless PLC/motion controller integration
  • Auto-tuning — identifies motor inductance, resistance, back-EMF automatically
  • 16 kHz position loop — high-bandwidth precision control

Applicable Industries:

  • Medium-size CNC machines
  • Injection molding machines
  • Heavy packaging equipment
  • Printing presses
  • Metal forming machines

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount on DIN 35mm rail or panel with 4× M4 screws
  • Torque to 2 Nm
  • Minimum 25mm clearance above and below for convection cooling
  • Ground terminal: < 0.1Ω to chassis ground
  • Motor cable: shielded, twisted pair, max 10m
  • For BLDC (Hall) mode: connect 3 Hall sensor wires + 3 power wires to M23

Usage Precautions:

  • NCC variant has NO safety functions — add external safety relay/drive for STO/SS1
  • Do not exceed 325 VDC bus voltage — IGBT destruction is instantaneous
  • When using Hall sensors (BLDC mode): encoder inputs are ignored — configure correctly in Workbench
  • Brake output: 24VDC, max 0.5A — use external relay for high-current brakes
  • Firmware update required via Kollmorgen Workbench before first use
