Kollmorgen AKD-P00607-NAA

Product Brief:
The AKD-P00607-NAA is a single-axis servo drive from Kollmorgen’s AKD-P performance series. The model decoding: P = Performance series, 006 = 6 A continuous, 07 = 48 VDC bus, NAA = specific configuration (N = network communication, A = analog feedback interface variant, A = specific I/O configuration). This drive is configured for applications using analog feedback (sin/cos or TTL incremental) and provides high-performance motion control with EtherCAT connectivity.

Functional Features:

  • Analog feedback support — SINCOS (1 Vpp sine/cosine) or TTL incremental encoder
  • Electronic gearing — mechanical gear replacement with zero backlash
  • Auto-tuning — full motor parameter identification in under 60 seconds
  • Advanced vibration suppression — automatic notch filter, disturbance observer
  • EtherCAT — cycle time < 1 ms, jitter < 1 µs
  • Kollmorgen Workbench — standalone motion programming

Material Composition:

  • Housing: Die-cast aluminum, powder-coat finish
  • Power Stage: IGBT module (Infineon or equivalent)
  • PCB: 4-layer FR-4, conformal coated
  • Connectors: Screw terminals + M12 for I/O and encoder

Structural Features:

  • DIN rail or panel mount
  • Removable terminal cover
  • USB-C commissioning port
  • Dual EtherCAT RJ45 ports
  • Status LEDs: Power, Fault, Operation

Operating Principle:
Field-Oriented Control (FOC) with Space Vector Modulation. The drive measures motor phase currents and performs real-time Clarke/Park transformations. For analog SINCOS feedback, the drive’s interpolator converts the sine/cosine signals to high-resolution digital position data (up to 16-bit interpolation). The three nested control loops (torque → velocity → position) execute at the specified update rates.

Advantages:

  • Analog feedback flexibility — works with legacy SINCOS encoders without adapter
  • SIL2 safety — certified for safety-rated applications
  • High loop bandwidth — excellent dynamic response
  • Compact size — fits in tight OEM panels
  • EtherCAT with < 1 µs jitter — precise multi-axis synchronization

Applicable Industries:

  • Machine tool axes (lathe, mill)
  • Textile machinery
  • Packaging machines
  • Print equipment
  • General OEM automation

Installation Requirements:

  • DC bus: 48 VDC regulated, ripple < 5%, use external capacitor if > 400 W
  • SINCOS encoder: use shielded twisted pair, max 10 m, 1 Vpp amplitude
  • TTL encoder: 5 VDC supply from drive, max 5 m cable length
  • EtherCAT: Cat5e shielded, 120 Ω termination at last node
  • Ground chassis to earth, resistance < 1 Ω

Usage Notes:

  • Perform auto-tune immediately after motor connection
  • SINCOS encoder requires 1 Vpp signal — verify amplitude before commissioning
  • Configure safe motion (STO, SS1) before enabling drive output
  • Do not exceed 48 VDC on bus — will destroy IGBTs
  • Firmware updates only via Kollmorgen Workbench — do not interrupt power
