Functional Features:

  • Auto-tuning — identifies motor parameters automatically
  • Multi-axis synchronization via EtherCAT with <1 μs jitter
  • Advanced motion profiles — S-curve, jerk-limited trapezoidal
  • Integrated safety — STO, SS1, SLS, SLP via safety I/O
  • Web-based configuration via Kollmorgen Workbench software

Structural Characteristics:

  • DIN rail or panel mountable
  • Screw-terminal connections for power and motor
  • M23 connector for encoder feedback
  • Integrated EMC filter on DC bus input

Working Principle:
The drive receives a motion command via EtherCAT or other fieldbus. The internal DSP executes the servo control loop at 16 kHz, comparing commanded position/velocity/torque with encoder feedback. A space-vector PWM algorithm drives the motor phase currents through a 3-phase IGBT inverter. Current, velocity, and position loops are cascaded for precise motion control.

Key Advantages:

  • Compact form factor — fits in tight cabinet spaces
  • 16 kHz servo loop for high dynamic response
  • Multi-protocol feedback support — compatible with virtually any encoder
  • EtherCAT master/slave for deterministic multi-axis control

Applicable Industries:

  • Packaging machinery
  • Robotics
  • CNC machines
  • Conveyor systems
  • Printing and converting

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount vertically with minimum 50 mm clearance above for convection cooling
  • DC bus cable: minimum 4 mm² copper
  • Encoder cable: shielded twisted pair, max 15 m (BiSS-C)
  • Ground chassis to protective earth

Usage Precautions:

  • Do not operate above 60 VDC bus voltage
  • Derate current by 2% per °C above 40°C ambient
  • Ensure proper heatsinking if ambient exceeds 40°C
