Construction & Materials:
- Enclosure: Aluminum die-cast housing with IP20 rating
- Connectors: M12 circular connectors for power, feedback, and I/O
- PCB: Multi-layer FR-4 with conformal coating
- Power Stage: IGBT module with intelligent power management (IPM)
Functional Features:
- Auto-tuning via Kollmorgen Autotune (inertia identification, friction compensation)
- Notch filters and vibration suppression (up to 3 biquad filters)
- Safe Torque Off (STO) per IEC 61800-5-2
- Electronic gear ratio up to 2³²:1
- Integrated safety functions: SLS, SLP, SOS, SBC, SSD
Working Principle:
The drive receives a motion command via EtherCAT (or other fieldbus), executes a cascaded control loop (current → velocity → position), and drives the motor with sinusoidal PWM at 16–20 kHz switching frequency.
Advantages:
- EtherCAT native support for sub-millisecond cycle times
- Compact footprint — fits in standard DIN rail or panel-mount configurations
- Advanced vibration suppression eliminates mechanical resonance without external filters
- Wide feedback compatibility — works with virtually any Kollmorgen or third-party encoder
Applicable Industries:
Machine tools, robotics, semiconductor wafer handling, printing, packaging, textile, medical devices
Installation Requirements:
- Mount vertically with adequate clearance (minimum 50 mm above and below)
- Use shielded cable for encoder feedback (max 50 m for incremental, 100 m for EnDat)
- Connect PE ground to chassis ground
- Provide 24 VDC auxiliary supply for logic (internal or external)
Usage Notes:
- Always perform Autotune after mechanical installation before commissioning
- Do not exceed 80% of rated current for continuous operation to ensure thermal headroom
- Update firmware via Kollmorgen Workbench software before first use
