Functional Features:

  • EtherCAT master/slave — seamless integration with EtherCAT motion networks.
  • Kollmorgen Workbench — full parameterization, tuning, and diagnostics via USB/Ethernet.
  • Electronic Gear: Programmable from 1:1 to 10,000:1.
  • Camming: Up to 32 cam profiles stored in drive memory.
  • Synchronous Multi-Axis: Up to 8 axes synchronized via EtherCAT Distributed Clocks (DC).
  • Functional Safety: Full SIL2/PLd safe torque off with dual-channel monitoring.

Working Principle:
The AKD-B04807-NCA is a three-phase PWM servo amplifier with an integrated motion controller. It receives a trajectory command (position, velocity, or torque) from the host controller via EtherCAT/CANopen. The internal DSP executes a three-loop cascade control (current loop → velocity loop → position loop) at 2.5 kHz. The IGBT power stage (6-switch, 3-phase bridge) modulates the DC bus voltage using space-vector PWM (SVPWM) to drive the motor with sinusoidal currents. The encoder feedback closes the position loop for precise servo control.

Structural Features:

  • Aluminum die-cast housing with internal EMI shielding.
  • Pluggable terminal blocks for power, motor, encoder, and I/O.
  • Integrated braking chopper — no external braking resistor required (up to 48A).
  • Front-panel LED indicators for status and fault codes.
  • USB port for local commissioning.
  • Ethernet port (RJ45) for EtherCAT/Modbus TCP.

Material Composition:

  • Housing: Die-cast Aluminum ADC12 with powder coat finish
  • Power Stage: IGBT modules (600V/75A class)
  • PCB: FR-4, conformal coated
  • Connectors: Pluggable screw-terminal blocks (Phoenix Contact or equivalent)

Advantages:

  • Proven platform — millions of units deployed globally.
  • Full EtherCAT support — industry-leading cycle times.
  • Integrated safety — no external safety relay needed.
  • Compact footprint for 48A rating.
  • Extensive diagnostic capability — real-time current, voltage, temperature monitoring.

Applicable Industries:

  • CNC machining centers
  • Injection molding machines
  • Printing and converting
  • Material handling and logistics
  • Textile machinery
  • General industrial automation

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount on DIN rail (TS35) or panel mount — use 4× M4 screws.
  • DC bus wiring: Use minimum 10mm² copper cable for 48A continuous.
  • Motor wiring: Use shielded cable, maximum 15m (Kollmorgen CH series recommended).
  • Ground connection: Chassis PE to panel ground — ≤ 0.1Ω.
  • Cooling: Ensure minimum 50mm clearance above and below drive for airflow.
  • EtherCAT network: Use shielded CAT5e/CAT6 cable, maximum 100m per segment.

Usage Precautions:

  • Do not operate above 340VDC on DC bus — will damage IGBTs.
  • Derate current 10% per 10°C above 40°C ambient.
  • Do not disconnect encoder while motor is energized — drive will fault.
  • Update firmware only via Kollmorgen Workbench — do not use unofficial tools.
  • Brake resistor required only for regen > 3kW — internal chopper handles lower regen.
