Functional Features:

  • Auto-Tuning function automatically identifies motor parameters (resistance, inductance, back-EMF, inertia) in under 60 seconds
  • Advanced notch filters (up to 4 biquad filters) eliminate mechanical resonance
  • EtherCAT master/slave operation enables real-time distributed motion control
  • Safety-rated STO meets SIL 2 / PL c per IEC 61800-5-2
  • On-board data logging stores up to 10,000 events for diagnostics
  • Kollmorgen Workbench software provides full parameterization and tuning from a PC

Performance Parameters:

  • Current Ripple: < 2% at rated load
  • Velocity Ripple: < 0.01% at rated speed
  • Positioning Repeatability: ±1 encoder count
  • ** Following Error (Velocity Mode)**: < 0.05° at 3000 RPM

Material Composition:

  • Housing: Die-Cast Aluminum (ADC12) with anodized finish
  • PCB: FR-4, 2-layer, conformal coated
  • Power Module: IGBT (Infineon), 600 V rated
  • Connector: M23 19-pin (main) + M12 8-pin (encoder)
  • Heat Sink: Extruded Aluminum 6063-T5

Working Principle:
The AKD drive receives a motion command (position, velocity, or torque) via EtherCAT or analog input. The internal DSP (Digital Signal Processor) executes a cascaded control loop: outer position loop → velocity loop → inner current loop. The current loop uses space-vector PWM (SVPWM) to generate three-phase sinusoidal voltages that drive the servo motor. The feedback encoder provides real-time position/velocity data that closes the loop, achieving sub-millisecond response times.

Advantages:

  • Fully automated commissioning via Auto-Tune eliminates manual parameter entry
  • EtherCAT native integration enables synchronization to < 1 µs jitter in multi-axis systems
  • Compact footprint (74 x 115 x 136 mm) saves panel space
  • Safety-integrated (STO) reduces need for external safety relays
  • Wide feedback compatibility supports Hiperface, EnDat, BiSS, SSI, and incremental encoders

Applicable Industries:

  • Semiconductor Wafer Handling
  • Medical Device Manufacturing
  • Lab Automation
  • Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Assembly
  • Precision Cutting and Welding

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount vertically on a DIN rail (35 mm) or screw-mount to panel
  • Ensure minimum 50 mm clearance on top and bottom for convection cooling
  • Connect DC bus with 10 mm² minimum cable cross-section
  • Ground chassis to protective earth (PE) with < 0.1 Ω resistance
  • Use shielded cable for all encoder connections; ground shield at drive end only

Usage Notes:

  • Do not operate without a connected motor or dummy load (drive will fault)
  • Verify DC bus polarity before powering on; reverse polarity destroys the drive
  • Update firmware via Kollmorgen Workbench before first commissioning
  • Do not exceed ambient temperature of 50°C; derate current by 2% per °C above 40°C
