Kollmorgen AKD-B01207-NAA
Product Overview:
The AKD-B01207-NAA is a single-axis digital servo drive from the AKD Basic product line manufactured by Kollmorgen. It is designed to drive brushless servo motors and brush DC motors with high precision in industrial automation applications. The “NAA” suffix indicates a standard configuration without optional communication or fieldbus modules, intended for applications requiring basic motion control functionality.

Working Principle:
The drive receives a command signal (analog voltage, PWM, or step/direction) from a controller. The internal DSP processor executes the control algorithm in real time, comparing the feedback signal from the motor encoder against the command to generate a PWM output that drives the motor phases through a three-phase inverter bridge (IGBT power stage). The current loop operates at 20 kHz, the velocity loop at 1 kHz, and the position loop at 1 kHz, ensuring high bandwidth motion control.
Advantages:
- Cost-effective entry-level servo drive with full motion control capability
- Wide motor compatibility across Kollmorgen AKM and AKM22 motor families
- Simple setup via Kollmorgen AKD Workbench software over USB
- Robust industrial-grade design with built-in protections
Applicable Industries:
- Packaging machinery
- Material handling systems
- Printing and converting equipment
- Small CNC machines
- Textile machinery
- General automation
Installation Requirements:
- Mount on a vertical DIN rail (35 mm) or flat surface with adequate ventilation
- Minimum 50 mm clearance on all sides for airflow
- Connect DC bus capacitor if bus length exceeds 2 meters
- Use shielded cable for encoder feedback (max 10 m recommended)
- Ensure proper grounding of chassis and motor frame
Usage Precautions:
- Do not exceed 48 VDC bus voltage under any condition
- Derate output current by 1% per °C above 40°C ambient
- Do not operate without a motor connected — the drive requires a load for stable current loop operation
- Use Kollmorgen-approved cables for encoder connections to prevent signal noise
- Update firmware using AKD Workbench before commissioning
