Material Composition:

  • Stator Core: Grain-oriented silicon steel (0.35mm laminations)
  • Stator Windings: Copper windings, Class F insulation, VPI treated
  • Rotor: NdFeB permanent magnets (150°C rated)
  • Housing: Aluminum alloy (die-cast, anodized)
  • Shaft: Hardened stainless steel 17-4PH, ground (Ra < 0.8μm)
  • Bearings: Sealed deep-groove ball bearings (SKF/NSK equivalent)

Structural Features:

  • Standard keyed shaft — DIN 6885-1 keyway, key size 6×6×36mm
  • Single-encoder mounting — rear shaft end, 6-pin M23 connector
  • Integrated fan cover (convection-cooled version) — axial fan on NDE
  • 2× PTC thermal sensors in stator winding
  • Compact terminal box — M20 cable gland, IP67

Working Principle:
The AEP-090-18 is a three-phase PMSM servo motor. The servo drive supplies variable-frequency, variable-amplitude three-phase AC to the stator windings, creating a rotating magnetic field that the permanent magnet rotor tracks synchronously. The Hiperface DSL encoder provides absolute position feedback with 128 cycles per revolution, enabling the drive to know the exact rotor position at all times (including after power loss). The drive’s current loop (typically 62.5 μs cycle time) continuously adjusts phase currents to achieve precise torque control.

Key Advantages:

  • Excellent torque-to-size ratio — 18 Nm from 90mm frame
  • Multi-turn absolute encoder — no homing required
  • Convection or liquid cooling — flexible thermal design
  • Cost-effective — ideal for OEM integration
  • Wide speed range — 0 to 3000 RPM constant torque

Applicable Industries:

  • Packaging Machinery
  • Material Handling & Conveyor Systems
  • Textile Machinery
  • Food & Beverage Processing
  • General Automation (assembly, pick-and-place)

Installation Requirements:

  • Foot or flange mounting — 4× M6 mounting holes on 114mm bolt circle
  • Shaft alignment: TIR < 0.05mm, angular < 0.1°
  • Cable: Kollmorgen B-series power cable + encoder cable
  • Grounding: Motor frame to earth, resistance < 1 Ω
  • Ambient: -10°C to +40°C (derate torque 1%/°C above 40°C)

Usage Precautions:

  • Do not block ventilation openings (convection version) — overheating risk
  • Max continuous current: Do not exceed nameplate current (typically 12A RMS)
  • Encoder cable max length: 15m (use repeater for longer runs)
  • Do not use braking resistor on motor terminals — use drive braking circuit
  • Storage: Keep in original packaging, desiccant included
