Kollmorgen 16097-06B FSA45 II
Product Name: Kollmorgen FSA45 II Brushless Permanent-Magnet Servo Motor, Order Code 16097-06B
Overview: The FSA45 II motor is a brushless AC servo motor for high-precision motion control. The 16097-06B configuration defines FSA45 frame, feedback, connectors and output shaft for continuous industrial servo duty.
Detailed content
Technical Specifications: Rated DC bus is 320 VDC with continuous operating range 260 to 360 VDC. Continuous stall torque is 4.8 N·m at 40 °C ambient. Peak torque is 14.4 N·m for short overload. Continuous stall current is 5.2 Arms; peak current is 15.6 Arms. Rated base speed is 3000 RPM; maximum no-load speed is 6000 RPM. Feedback is Kollmorgen SFD digital smart encoder, 26-bit single-turn, using Kollmorgen digital serial protocol for AKD and S700 drives. Housing protection is IP65; connector protection is IP54. Flange is 115 mm square. Output shaft is 22 mm keyed solid shaft with 6 x 6 mm keyway. Body length is 186 mm. Weight is 3.28 kg.
Functional Features: Three-mode servo control as torque, speed and position; low cogging below 2.2% rated torque; factory-calibrated SFD encoder; PTC winding thermal protection; separated power and feedback connectors; 3x rated peak overload capability for short periods; 24-hour continuous industrial rating.
Application Scenarios: CNC machining centers, robotic joints and actuators, semiconductor handling equipment, printing and packaging machines, medical motion systems, high-speed pick-and-place automation, retrofit of aging servo spindles and axes.
Materials and Structure: Housing is aluminum alloy; stator windings are copper; encoder housing and feedback connectors use industrial insulating polymers; output shaft is hardened steel with keyway; rear cover integrates encoder and resolver-style feedback; PTC element is embedded in stator windings.
Working Principle: The servo drive outputs three-phase sinusoidal current to the stator windings. The rotating magnetic field interacts with the permanent-magnet rotor to produce torque. The SFD encoder measures rotor position and feeds the drive for closed-loop current, speed and position regulation. The PTC monitors winding temperature and signals the drive to shut down when thermal limits are reached.
Installation Requirements: Mount with the 115 mm square flange using specified bolt grade and tightening sequence. Align the keyed shaft with the machine coupling without imposing side load or axial thrust beyond the rotor bearing rating. Route power cables and encoder cables in separated trays. Connect shield drains to ground at the drive end per Kollmorgen wiring rules. Provide forced or convective cooling so ambient at motor surface does not exceed the rated thermal condition.
Usage Precautions: Confirm DC-bus voltage before energizing. Never disconnect encoder or power connectors under load. Observe PTC trip threshold and reset only after winding temperature returns to safe range. Avoid shaft impacts, magnet demagnetization sources and prolonged overload above peak torque/time limits.
