GE IS215VCVEH2AF

Product Name: UCVE VME Real-Time Controller, H2AF Revision (Mark VI / Mark VIe)
Product Introduction: The IS215UCVEH2AF is the core real-time CPU board (UCVE = Universal Control & Voter Electronics) for GE Mark VI gas/steam turbine and EX2100 excitation control systems. It runs the QNX Neutrino hard real-time OS to execute all critical turbine control algorithms, sequence logic, and safety interlocks. The “H2AF” revision features fiber optic IONet interfaces for noise immunity in high-EMI environments.

Detailed content

Technical Specifications:
  • Processor: Intel Celeron 300 MHz
  • Memory: 32 MB DRAM (runtime), 128 KB L2 Cache, 8 KB battery-backed SRAM (event storage)
  • Program Storage: 16 MB removable Compact Flash card
  • Operating System: QNX Neutrino real-time multitasking OS
  • Network Interfaces: Dual 10/100 Mbps Ethernet (EGD, Modbus TCP)—typically LC Fiber in “AF” revision
  • Serial Ports: 2× RS-232 COM1/COM2 (Modbus RTU, HHM debug)
  • Backplane Bus: VME + ISBus high-speed serial I/O bus
  • Hot Swap Support: Yes, online replacement without rack power cut
  • Diagnostic LEDs: Power, Run, Fault, Comm, Network status indicators
  • Rack Supply: 5 V DC / 24 V DC from VME backplane
  • Operating Temperature: -30°C to +65°C (ventilated turbine/excitation cabinet)
  • Humidity: 5% to 95% RH non-condensing
  • Mechanical: Single-width standard VME slot, metal heat sink, approx. 1.0 kg
  • Certifications: CE, UL power generation safety certification
  • TMR Capability: Triple Modular Redundant architecture support (IEC 61508 SIL-3 context)
On-board Hardware Layout: Front panel includes multi-status LED array, dual Ethernet RJ45 (or LC fiber), 2× RS-232 serial DB9 ports, CF card slot, and fixing latches. The board features a metal large heat sink for the Celeron processor, memory and battery-backed SRAM, flash storage circuitry, Ethernet & serial communication transceiver chips, and an ISBus/VME backplane gold finger edge connector at the rear edge. The PCB is conformally coated with silkscreen part number IS215UCVEH2AF.
Working Principle: All field analog/discrete signals collected by IS200 series I/O termination boards are transmitted to UCVE via proprietary ISBus VME backplane for unified calculation, then output control commands back to field actuators. Dual redundant Ethernet and dual serial ports provide multi-protocol communication with HMI, plant SCADA, and auxiliary equipment.
System Hardware Matching Chain:
  • Core: IS215UCVEH2AF (UCVE) — Mark VI core real-time control CPU board
  • I/O: IS200 series boards (IS200TDBTH6ABC mixed DI/DO, IS200SDIIH1ADB DI, IS200TREGH1BEC trip voting relay)
  • Excitation: DS200SDCCG5AHD (EX2000 generator excitation main control board)
  • Field devices: Speed probes, PT/CT transformers, valve servos, limit switches, trip solenoids, RTD temperature sensors
Application Scenarios: Mark VI gas/steam turbine control and EX2100 excitation control systems. The fiber optic IONet interfaces make it particularly suited for high-EMI environments such as VFD-heavy plants.
Platform Compatibility: Primarily for Mark VI VME turbine racks. Cannot be installed in Mark V DS200, Mark VIe UCSE, Honeywell System57, Emerson Ovation, or GE Genius IC660 racks.
Installation Requirements: Single VME slot installation. For TMR configurations, three boards (R, S, T) are installed and vote on outputs.
Usage Precautions: GE stopped original new production; only refurbished and surplus spare parts are available aftermarket. Verify platform compatibility—this is NOT for Mark VIe racks. Hot-swap is supported but requires proper VME backplane redundancy configuration.
