GE DS3800NPSR
Product Name: GE Speedtronic Mark VIe / Mark IV Power Rack Assembly (with Power Supply)
Product Introduction: The DS3800NPSR is a fully assembled OEM power rack that integrates the backplane, power supply module and distribution board for GE Mark VIe (and Mark IV) turbine control systems. Delivered factory-wired and tested, it eliminates the logistical complexity of building a rack from scattered subcomponents, getting systems operational quickly.

Functional Features: Houses the NPSM power supply, an 8-slot passive backplane, integral cooling fans with speed monitoring, and a front terminal strip for power distribution. Holds any combination of analog, digital or communication I/O modules. Compared to buying subcomponents separately, the assembled rack saves approximately 15–20% in cost and 3–4 hours of assembly time.
Application Scenarios: Backbone of Mark VIe turbine control cabinets in power generation, gas and steam turbine control. Also compatible as a Mark IV power supply solution (DS3800NPSR1A1A variant: 100–240 V AC input; +5 V DC @ 15 A, +15 V DC @ 3 A, -15 V DC @ 3 A outputs; 100 W max).
Installation Requirements: Slide the rack into a 19-inch cabinet. Land the DC power feed (24 V DC or 125 V DC depending on NPSM variant). Populate I/O cards into the 8 backplane slots. The rack chassis, internal wiring and fusing are identical regardless of input voltage; only the NPSM power module changes between 24 V DC and 125 V DC configurations.
Usage Notes: For Mark IV NPSR power supply boards, the electrolytic capacitors dry out after 20+ years; proactive replacement during scheduled outages is strongly recommended. Never apply AC input and DC input simultaneously — the isolation diodes will fail. If the board is still original to a Mark IV system, plan for preemptive replacement. If a cooling fan fails, its tachometer feedback triggers an alarm to the CPU. The DS3800NPSR is a drop-in replacement for DS3800NPSR-1 (software compatible); it is hardware-incompatible with IS200EPDG and third-party OEM racks.
