Working Principle:​ The B30 sums the currents from all CTs connected to the protected bus zone, computing the differential current. Under normal conditions the differential current is near zero; an internal bus fault produces a significant differential current, triggering the restrained or unrestrained bus differential elements to issue a high-speed trip command to all connected breakers.
Application Scenarios:​ Bus differential protection in substations and industrial power systems, including applications with up to 32:1 CT ratio mismatch between terminals; stand-alone or integrated within automated substation control systems.
Installation Requirements:
  • Install modules in the UR chassis using ejector/inserter clips — remove control power before module removal/insertion
  • Verify correct module type is inserted into the correct slot position
  • For CT/VT modules, short/isolate external CT/VT circuits accordingly for maximum safety before removal
  • Ethernet connectors on CPU modules must be individually disconnected before module removal
  • Observe the “Ensure CPU and DSP module label colours are the same” warning — new modules have blue labels; mismatched modules will trigger a HARDWARE MISMATCH error
