B&R X20IF1082
Product Series: B&R X20 Series (Accessories / Interface)
Product Introduction:
The B&R X20IF1082 is an interface/coupling module for the B&R X20 compact I/O system. It serves as a transition module between the X20 backplane bus and M12 field connectors, enabling the connection of X20 modules to field devices via M12 cables. It is used when a direct M12 connection from the module is not available or when signal routing/distribution is required.

Functional Features:
- M12 A-coded 8-pin connector on the field side for IP67-rated connections
- X20 backplane connector on the bottom for module integration
- Signal routing/distribution — connects one X20 module to multiple M12 field cables
- Galvanic isolation (500 V DC)
- LED status indicators per channel
Structural Features:
- Housing: Polycarbonate (PC) + glass fiber (GF)
- M12 connector with sealing gasket — IP67 when mated
- DIN rail mountable (35 mm TS 35)
Working Principle:
The X20IF1082 acts as a passive signal coupler. Digital signals from the X20 module travel via the backplane bus into the interface module. The module routes these signals to the M12 connector pins on the front, which connect to field cables. For output modules, the module receives 24 VDC from the backplane and switches it to the M12 output pins. For input modules, it reads the voltage at the M12 input pins and sends the digital state to the backplane.
Advantages & Highlights:
- IP67 field-side protection via M12 connector — suitable for harsh environments
- Flexible wiring topology — enables branching of field cables
- Tool-free M12 connection — fast installation and maintenance
- Compact form factor — same size as standard X20 modules
Applicable Industries:
- Outdoor installations
- Washdown environments (food & beverage)
- Mining and heavy industry
- Marine applications
Installation Requirements:
- 35 mm DIN rail (EN 60715)
- M12 A-coded 8-pin cable — max 100 m
- Connector torque: 1.5 Nm
- 24 VDC via backplane
Usage Precautions:
- Do not mix A-coded and B/D/X-coded M12 connectors — pin assignment differs
- Seal the M12 connector — ensure gasket is properly seated for IP67 rating
- Do not exceed rated current per channel (0.5 A)
