Functional Features:

  • 32 independent PNP (sourcing) outputs
  • Short-circuit protection per channel (electronic fuse)
  • Overload protection per channel
  • Over-temperature protection
  • Diagnostic LED per channel (16 LEDs, each representing 2 channels)
  • Software-configurable Active HIGH / Active LOW
  • Compatible with B&R Automation Studio

Structural Characteristics:

  • DIN rail mounting (TS 35)
  • Plug-in terminal connectors with spring clamps
  • ABS plastic housing
  • Front-facing LED status indicators (16 LEDs for 32 channels)
  • X20 bus connector on bottom edge

Working Principle:
Digital output states from the controller are transferred via the X20 bus to the module. Each of the 32 channels is driven by an individual NPN transistor in a PNP sourcing configuration. When a channel bit is set to “1”, the transistor turns ON, sourcing 24 V DC to the load. When set to “0”, the transistor turns OFF. Each channel has an electronic fuse for short-circuit protection. Channel-to-channel isolation is maintained via optocouplers. The 16 front-panel LEDs each represent 2 channels (LED ON = both channels active).

Advantages & Highlights:

  • 32 channels in a single compact module — highest density X20 digital output
  • 0.5 A per channel with 8 A total capacity
  • Electronic fuse per channel for fast fault protection
  • PNP sourcing output — standard for European automation
  • Reduced wiring and panel space compared to multiple 16-channel modules

Applicable Industries:

  • Large-scale valve control (process plants)
  • Indicator lamp arrays
  • Relay and contactor banks
  • High-channel-count discrete output in machine building
  • Production line signal distribution
  • Batch process control

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount on DIN rail (TS 35 x 7.5 or TS 35 x 15)
  • Connect to X20 base module or X20 system bus
  • Wire PNP loads: +24 V → load → output terminal → 0 V return
  • Use flyback diodes for all inductive loads
  • Ensure total current does not exceed 8 A
  • Use wire gauge appropriate for 0.5 A per channel (minimum 0.5 mm²)

Usage Precautions:

  • Maximum 0.5 A per channel — do not exceed under any condition
  • Total module current must not exceed 8 A
  • Always install flyback diodes across inductive loads (relays, solenoids, contactors)
  • Verify Active HIGH / Active LOW configuration in software matches physical wiring
  • LED indicators represent 2 channels each — consult module documentation for exact LED-to-channel mapping
  • Do not apply external voltage to output terminals
