B&R 5AP920.1906-K12

The full Windows 10 IoT Enterprise environment enables running B&R Automation Studio, MATLAB/Simulink, Node-RED, Docker containers, and any standard Windows application simultaneously. The i7-7700TE processor (2.4/3.8 GHz) provides 4× the performance of Atom-based panels, enabling complex multi-axis motion control, machine vision processing, and edge analytics on the same device. 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports support network redundancy (MRP/RSTP) and separation of control traffic from IT traffic. The onboard EtherCAT master connects directly to ACOPOS servo drives with 1 ms cycle time — no external master card required.

Working Principle:

Runs standard Windows 10 IoT Enterprise with the B&R Automation Runtime overlay for real-time task scheduling. The EtherCAT master stack (B&R EtherCAT Master) runs as a real-time priority thread, communicating with ACOPOS drives at 1 ms cycle time over the dedicated EtherCAT port. Hiperface DSL and EnDat 2.2 encoders connect directly to onboard interfaces, providing absolute position feedback without external gateways. All I/O (digital, analog, serial) is processed locally via the B&R I/O driver stack, enabling complete standalone operation.

Applicable Industries:

Complex multi-axis motion control, high-speed packaging, semiconductor equipment, automotive assembly lines, print shop management systems, edge computing gateways, Industry 4.0 data aggregation nodes, ship automation, oil & gas SCADA.

Installation Requirements:

Mount in control cabinet with minimum 50 mm clearance on all sides. Connect 24 V DC to terminal block (X1/X2). Connect EtherCAT cable to first ACOPOS drive in daisy-chain topology. Use shielded Ethernet cables for all network connections. Ground chassis to protective earth (PE). Install 4× M4 screws or use DIN rail clip.

Critical Usage Directives:

Activate Windows 10 IoT license via B&R Automation License Manager before deployment. Use the 128 GB SSD exclusively for OS and applications — add external storage for data logging. Perform Windows Update regularly (use B&R Update Service to avoid breaking Automation Runtime). Use B&R Automation Studio 4.x for all engineering. Do not operate above 55°C ambient — derate performance by 2.5% per °C above 40°C.
