BAUMULLER BM4443-SI0-012 43-03-E03

Product Introduction:
The BAUMULLER BM4443-SI0-012 is a servo motor from the BM44xx series supplied without an encoder. The “SI0” configuration indicates a shaft-ready motor with a smooth (non-keyed or encoder-ready) shaft and no encoder installed. Winding 012 is rated for 230 V AC. This configuration is intended for applications where position feedback is provided by an external encoder (e.g., linear glass scale, external rotary encoder) or where the motor is used in open-loop velocity mode.

  • M20 cable gland at drive end
  • No encoder connector — single power cable only
  • Compact design: 115 mm total length

Working Principle:
The servo drive supplies three-phase currents to the stator, creating a rotating field that drives the NdFeB rotor. Position feedback is supplied externally (e.g., linear encoder on machine axis, external rotary encoder on shaft). The drive receives this external feedback and executes closed-loop control. In open-loop mode, the motor operates as a brushless DC motor with commutation based on back-EMF sensing.

Advantages:

  • Lowest cost configuration in BM44xx series
  • Smooth shaft enables high-precision external encoder coupling
  • Reduced motor weight (no encoder)
  • Flexible — compatible with any external feedback device

Applicable Industries:

  • Machine Tools with Linear Glass Scales
  • Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
  • Printing Presses (external register encoder)
  • Paper & Board Machines
  • Metal Forming Machines
  • Any application requiring external high-precision feedback

Compatible Drives:

  • BAUMULLER BM4621, BM4623, BM4661, BM4663
  • BAUMULLER BM4700, BM4710, BM4720

Installation Requirements:

  • Flange mount: 4 × M5, torque 2.5 Nm
  • External encoder coupling: Precision clamp-type, max 0.02 mm runout
  • Cable: Single power cable, M20 gland
  • Ensure external encoder signal wiring is shielded and separated from power cables

Usage Precautions:

  • Must use external encoder for closed-loop position control
  • Do not apply keyed coupling to smooth shaft — use clamping hub only
  • Verify drive is configured for external encoder input
  • Smooth shaft is more susceptible to slipping — use locking collar or clamp hub
