BAUMÜLLER BM4-F-IEE-01

The BM4-F-IEE-01 module acts as a distributed I/O node on the EtherCAT network. The BM4 servo drive (master) cyclically reads digital/analog input states and writes digital/analog output states via the EtherCAT protocol. Each EtherCAT frame processes all I/O data within a single network cycle (125 µs to 1 ms depending on configuration). The module’s internal microcontroller handles signal conditioning, A/D and D/A conversion, and galvanic isolation, providing the servo drive with real-time field data for motion control logic and safety functions.

Working Principle:
The BM4-F-IEE-01 module acts as a distributed I/O node on the EtherCAT network. The BM4 servo drive (master) cyclically reads digital/analog input states and writes digital/analog output states via the EtherCAT protocol. Each EtherCAT frame processes all I/O data within a single network cycle (125 µs to 1 ms depending on configuration). The module’s internal microcontroller handles signal conditioning, A/D and D/A conversion, and galvanic isolation, providing the servo drive with real-time field data for motion control logic and safety functions.

Applicable Industries:

  • Machine Tool Control Systems
  • Packaging Line Automation
  • Material Handling Systems
  • Robotics Cells
  • Process Automation

Installation Requirements:

  • Mounting: DIN Rail 35 mm (EN 60715), Horizontal or Vertical
  • Wiring: Maximum 2.5 mm² for digital I/O, Shielded for analog I/O
  • EtherCAT Cable: Standard CAT5e/CAT6 Shielded, Maximum 100 m Segment Length
  • Ambient Temperature: 0°C to +55°C (No Direct Sunlight)
  • Ventilation: Minimum 10 mm Clearance on All Sides

Usage Precautions:

  • Do not exceed 24 V DC ±10% on supply — overvoltage damages module
  • Analog input impedance: 100 kΩ (Voltage) / 250 Ω (Current) — match source impedance
  • Do not mix PNP and NPN sensors on the same input group without configuration
  • EtherCAT termination resistor must be enabled on the last node in the chain
  • Maximum 64 EtherCAT nodes per segment (including master)
