Atlas Copco TC-4000-P-PN-2P-ES

Product Introduction:
The TC-4000-P-PN-2P-ES is the highest-capacity configuration in the TC-4000 series, featuring two compressor packages (2P) on a single trailer, driven by PTO with electric start. The “2P” indicates twin compressor units, effectively doubling capacity or providing redundancy. This unit delivers up to 4,000 CFM with the flexibility to run one or both compressors based on demand.

Detailed content

Technical Specifications:

  • Free Air Delivery (FAD): 4,000 CFM (113.3 m³/min) at 100 PSI (7 bar) — combined output of two compressors
  • Maximum Working Pressure: 175 PSI (12 bar)
  • Drive Type: PTO — 2 × 157.5 kW (2 × 211 HP) = 315 kW total; Electric start motor — 2 × 15 kW
  • PTO Input Speed: 540 RPM (standard)
  • PTO Torque Requirement: 5,600 Nm at 540 RPM (per compressor)
  • Operating Weight: Approximately 9,500 kg (20,944 lbs)
  • Dimensions (L × W × H): Approximately 7,000 × 2,500 × 2,600 mm
  • Noise Level: 108 dB(A) at 7 meters

Functional Features:

  • Twin Compressor (2P): Two independent two-stage air ends — run one for low demand, both for peak demand
  • PTO Drive (PN): Powered by host vehicle PTO — no dedicated engine
  • Electric Start (ES): Dual 15 kW start motors for independent compressor engagement
  • Automatic Load Sharing: Control system automatically balances load between both compressors
  • Redundancy: If one compressor fails, the other continues operating at 50% capacity

Performance Parameters:

Parameter Value
FAD @ 100 PSI (Both) 4,000 CFM (113.3 m³/min)
FAD @ 100 PSI (One) 2,000 CFM (56.7 m³/min)
FAD @ 40 PSI (Both) 4,800 CFM (136.0 m³/min)
Max Pressure 175 PSI (12 bar)
PTO Power (Total) 315 kW (422 HP)
PTO Speed 540 RPM
Discharge Temperature Approximately 95°C (203°F) per stage
Duty Cycle 100% continuous

Material Composition:

  • Frame: Heavy-duty welded steel — rated for 9,500 kg GVW
  • Air Ends (×2): Cast iron two-stage rotary screw — identical specifications
  • Tanks (×2): ASME / PED certified carbon steel — 2 × 300-liter capacity
  • PTO Shafts (×2): Hardened alloy steel with independent shear bolt protection
  • Canopy: Galvanized steel with acoustic insulation

Structural Characteristics:

  • Triple-axle trailer for heavy load distribution
  • Dual PTO connection points with independent clutch assemblies
  • Central control cabinet with HMI — manages both compressors independently
  • Dual forklift pockets and six lifting eyes

Working Principle:
Each compressor operates as an independent two-stage unit. The electric start motor engages the PTO clutch for each compressor separately. The control system monitors downstream pressure and demand: at low demand, only one compressor runs; at high demand, both engage automatically. Each air end compresses air in two stages with intercooling, delivering cool, dry air at up to 175 PSI.

Advantage Highlights:

  • Maximum flexibility — scale output from 2,000 to 4,000 CFM based on real-time demand
  • Built-in redundancy — 50% capacity maintained if one compressor requires service
  • PTO drive eliminates need for two separate engines — reduces capital and fuel cost
  • Lower specific power consumption at partial load vs. single large compressor

Applicable Industries:
Large-scale mining, major construction projects, fleet operations, military, power plant maintenance, shipyard operations

Model Series: TC-4000 Series — Towable Compressors (4,000 CFM class) — Twin Compressor PTO

Installation Requirements:

  • Host vehicle must have PTO rated at minimum 315 kW at 540 RPM (or two vehicles with 157.5 kW each)
  • Triple-axle trailer requires wider road clearance — verify local transport regulations
  • Level on compacted ground capable of supporting 9,500 kg

Usage Precautions:

  • Do not run both compressors simultaneously at below 30% load — oil temperature will drop below optimal range
  • Alternate compressor runtime every 8 hours to equalize wear if running both continuously
  • Service both PTO shafts and clutches on a synchronized schedule
  • Monitor host vehicle transmission and PTO bearing temperatures continuously
