Atlas Copco TC-4000-P-EIP-ES
Product Overview:
The TC-4000-P-EIP-ES is the most feature-rich controller in the Atlas Copco electric torque controller lineup. It combines peak torque control (P) with the EIP (Electronic Interface Package) for full factory automation connectivity and the ES (Electric Screwdriver monitoring) module for per-gun traceability. This unit is engineered for aerospace, automotive, and heavy industry applications demanding the highest quality standards.

Working Principle:
The controller samples torque at 2000 Hz from the electric screwdriver via the ES module. The ES module captures per-gun data (torque, angle, cycle time, result) and transmits it to the main controller via a dedicated high-speed link. The main controller compares values against programmed targets. The EIP module serves as the automation gateway — all data is streamed to the PLC via the selected fieldbus protocol. Upon reaching the peak torque setpoint, the controller sends a stop signal to the tool. Full torque-angle curves are stored for every cycle.
Key Advantages:
- ±1% accuracy — meets aerospace and automotive OEM specifications
- ES module provides per-gun traceability — required for AS9100 and IATF 16949 audits
- EIP enables full Industry 4.0 integration without additional hardware
- 1,000,000 result storage with curve data — eliminates need for external SPC software
- 7-inch display enables on-machine diagnostics without laptop
- Multi-user access control for regulated environments
Applicable Industries:
Aerospace (airframe and engine assembly), Automotive OEM and Tier 1 (powertrain, chassis, body), Heavy machinery, Wind turbine assembly, Rail vehicle manufacturing, Nuclear component assembly
Installation Requirements:
- Panel cutout: 270 x 190 mm (flush mount) or DIN rail (TS35, 3 modules wide)
- Power: 100–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz, dedicated circuit, minimum 10 A
- Ethernet: Cat5e/Cat6 to plant network (max. 100 m)
- Fieldbus: Shielded cable per protocol specification
- EIP I/O breakout: M12 12-pin, max. 5 m to remote I/O
- ES module: Mount within 2 m of screwdriver, M12 8-pin cable
- Ground all modules to panel PE — minimum 6 mm² copper wire
- Ambient: 0–50°C, humidity max. 85% non-condensing
Usage Precautions:
- Perform torque calibration every 12 months or 500,000 cycles using Atlas Copco calibration equipment
- Update all three modules (controller, EIP, ES) firmware via Atlas Copco Connect — do not update individually
- Assign unique IP addresses and node IDs on Ethernet/fieldbus
- Back up configuration files weekly — stored parameters are not recoverable after power loss without backup
- Do not open controller housing — internal calibration is void if seal is broken
- ES module must be replaced if physically damaged — do not attempt field repair
- Use only Atlas Copco certified electric screwdrivers with compatible protocol (Power Focus 6000/4000 series)
