ASM 4552143A

Product Name
Eddy current non contact displacement sensor probe.
Product Introduction
This sensor measures distance, displacement, vibration and runout on conductive metallic surfaces without physical contact. It is used for precision machine monitoring, spindle analysis and dynamic metrology where mechanical contact would affect the measured object.

Working Principle
The conditioner sends high-frequency current to the probe coil. When the coil faces a conductive target, eddy currents form in the target and change the coil impedance. The conditioner measures impedance variation caused by distance change, converts it into a linear displacement value, applies target-material compensation and outputs 0 to 10 V or 4 to 20 mA.
Installation Requirements
Mount the probe perpendicular to the measured surface. Set the initial air gap within the linear range, normally near the midpoint of the specified measuring range. Use a clean, flat, conductive target with surface area at least three times the probe diameter. Connect shielded cable to the matched ASM conditioner and ground the shield according to the conditioner manual. Keep the probe away from unrelated metal objects that can create side eddy-current effects.
Usage Precautions
Do not use the probe on non-conductive materials such as plastic, wood or ceramic. Do not exceed 30 VDC supply. Do not strike, drop or wrap tape around the sensing face. Recalibrate after changing probe, extension cable, conditioner or target material. Keep the operating temperature within -10 to 80 °C at the head and within the conditioner’s rated ambient range.
