API 4380GD

Product Name
Three-way isolated DC signal transmitter and isolator.
Overview
The API 4380GD isolates, converts and conditions DC current or voltage signals between field instruments and PLC, DCS or recording systems. It eliminates ground loops and common-mode noise by providing independent isolation among input, output and power.

Detailed content

Technical Specifications
Input Ranges: configurable 0 to 20 mA, 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 10 V, ±10 V and related DC ranges.
Output Ranges: configurable 0 to 20 mA, 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 10 V, ±10 V according to selector settings.
Isolation: 2000 V input-output-power three-way isolation in the GD configuration referenced by supplier data.
Loop Excitation: built-in unregulated sensor excitation, commonly 18 V DC.
Power Supply: 9 to 30 V DC depending on model option.
Response Time: less than 10 ms typical for DC signal paths.
Operating Temperature: -20 to +70°C per supplier technical data.
Indicators: LoopTracker status LED and output test button.
Functional Features
Rotary and slide switches for field range selection.
Optical isolation between all active circuits.
Passive and active loop support according to jumper configuration.
Compact plug-in or case-mount housing.
Test button for quick output verification without external calibration tools.
Application Scenarios
PLC and DCS analog input isolation.
Flow, pressure, level and temperature transmitter signal conditioning.
Chemical, water-treatment and factory-automation loops.
Data-acquisition systems requiring ground-loop removal.
Material and Structure
Industrial plastic or metal transmitter case.
Spring or screw terminals for input, output and power.
Optocoupler and signal-conditioning PCB.
Front-panel switches, LED and test button according to model variant.
Working Principle
The input DC signal is measured, transferred across an isolated barrier, scaled by the selected range and reconstructed as current or voltage output. Power, input and output sections are electrically separated so ground potential differences do not pass into the control system.
Installation Requirements
Mount on DIN adapter or case bracket with adequate ventilation.
Identify active versus passive loop configuration before wiring.
Use proper terminal torque and keep analog wiring away from power conductors.
Set input and output range switches only with the specified power state defined by the instruction manual.
Usage Precautions
Do not exceed the rated isolation voltage.
Confirm 9 to 30 V DC supply polarity and range before energization.
Avoid condensation, corrosive atmosphere and unauthorized switch changes during operation.
Validate output with the test button and calibrated source after installation.
