Functional Features
Direct AUI connection, automatic receive light-level adjustment in CentreCOM micro series, link monitor, jabber/auto-reset, SQE/heartbeat selectable, diagnostics LEDs for transmit/receive/link/collision/jabber/power depending on model.
Application Scenarios
Legacy AUI server to fiber conversion, historical 10 Mbps factory networks, hub-to-fiber extension, obsolete Ethernet equipment spares.
Material Composition
Metal/ molded micro-transceiver housing, optical ST coupler, AUI D-sub connector, PCB with 10Base-FL PHY and LED indicators.
Structural Characteristics
Compact external micro transceiver, AUI cable or direct AUI port connection, front ST optical port, status LED array.
Working Principle
The AUI interface supplies data and control signals from the host. The transceiver encodes 10 Mbps Ethernet into 10Base-FL optical pulses for ST fiber, detects collision and receive light level, and returns electrical status to the AUI controller.
Installation Requirements
Connect AUI 15-pin cable to host or use direct AUI port. Attach ST fiber with correct polish and cleanliness. Verify 10Base-FL/FOIRL compatibility. For 12 VDC-labeled units, use approved power source; for AUI-powered units, confirm host AUI power budget.
Usage Precautions
Do not use multimode ST unit on single-mode links beyond its optical budget. Avoid unauthorized optical attenuator removal/insertion. Keep ST ferrules clean. Confirm 10 Mbps AUI host before deployment because the unit is not 100/1000 Mbps.
