AEG 120-085-001

Product Type: Precision Shaft Coupling / Mechanical Adapter

Product Overview:
The AEG 120-085-001 is a precision mechanical coupling/shaft adapter used to connect motor shafts to driven equipment (pumps, fans, gearboxes) in AEG drive systems. It accommodates slight misalignment and transmits torque reliably.

  • Material (Hubs): Aluminum alloy 6061-T6, anodized black
  • Weight: 0.85 kg

Material Composition:

  • Hubs (x2): Aluminum 6061-T6, hard anodized (50 μm, black)
  • Spider (elastomer insert): Polyurethane, Shore A 98, oil and temperature resistant (-30°C to +80°C)
  • Fastening Hardware: Stainless steel A2-70 (AISI 304), M6 socket head cap screws
  • Key (if applicable): Steel C45, hardened and ground

Structural Features:

  • Two-hub jaw coupling design with elastomer spider
  • Clamp-style hub connection (no keyway required — friction fit)
  • Set screws (M6 x 8) for hub-to-shaft locking
  • Balanced design for high-speed operation (G2.5 balance grade per ISO 1940)
  • Lubrication-free elastomer spider

Working Principle:
The elastomer spider fits between the jaws of two aluminum hubs. When torque is applied, the spider deforms elastically to transmit torque while absorbing angular, axial, and radial misalignment between the two shafts. The friction fit between hub bore and shaft (H7 tolerance) combined with set screws prevents slippage. The elastomer material provides damping of torsional vibrations and electrical isolation between motor and driven equipment.

Key Advantages:

  • Misalignment compensation (± 1.5° angular, ± 1.0 mm axial, ± 0.5 mm radial)
  • Zero-maintenance elastomer spider (no lubrication required)
  • Vibration damping reduces stress on motor bearings
  • Electrical isolation between connected shafts

Applicable Industries:
Pump drives, fan drives, compressor drives, conveyor systems, mixers, agitators, HVAC equipment.

Installation Requirements:

  • Clean shaft surfaces and hub bores before installation
  • Apply light anti-seize compound to set screw threads only (not to bore)
  • Align shafts within specified misalignment limits before coupling
  • Torque set screws to 8 Nm (M6, stainless steel)
  • Verify balance grade G2.5 or better after installation

Usage Precautions:

  • Do not exceed 50 Nm continuous torque or 150 Nm peak torque
  • Do not operate above 6000 RPM
  • Replace spider if cracks, hardening, or permanent deformation is observed
  • Check set screw torque every 6 months in high-vibration applications
  • Do not use with fluids incompatible with polyurethane (ketones, esters)
