AEG 110-CPU-612-03

Product Introduction:
The AEG 110-CPU-612-03 is a CPU module for the AEG Series 110 PLC platform. It is the central processing unit that executes the user program, manages I/O communication, and controls the overall operation of the PLC system. The “110” denotes the series, “CPU” identifies it as the processor, “612” specifies the memory/performance variant, and “03” is the hardware revision.

Material Composition:

  • Housing: Glass-fibre reinforced polycarbonate (self-extinguishing, UL94 V-0)
  • PCB: 6-layer FR-4 with gold-plated edge connector
  • Edge Connector: 96-pin DIN 41612 compliant connector with gold flash (30 µin)
  • LED Indicators: Power (green), Run (green), Fault (red), Comm (amber)
  • Battery: CR2032 lithium battery (for RAM backup)
  • Heat Sink: Aluminium extrusion with thermal paste interface

Structural Features:

  • Front-panel status LEDs: PWR, RUN, FAULT, COMM
  • Mini-DIN or RJ45 communication port on front panel
  • Battery compartment on front (CR2032 access)
  • 96-pin eurocard edge connector for backplane bus connection
  • DIN rail mounting clips (optional — also supports backplane insertion)
  • Reset button and mode selector switch (RUN/STOP/PROG)

Working Principle:
The CPU module continuously executes the user program stored in non-volatile memory in a cyclic scan: (1) Input Scan → reads all input module states into the process image input (PII); (2) Program Execution → processes the ladder logic/function block/structured text program using the PII; (3) Output Scan → writes results to the process image output (PIO) and updates all output modules. The scan cycle repeats continuously. Communication with programming devices (PC) and HMI panels occurs via RS-232/RS-485 or Ethernet. The battery-backed RAM retains the program and data when power is removed.

Programming Languages (IEC 61131-3):

  • Ladder Diagram (LD)
  • Function Block Diagram (FBD)
  • Structured Text (ST)
  • Instruction List (IL)
  • Sequential Function Chart (SFC)

Functional Features:

  • Up to 256 I/O points expandable via Series 110 I/O modules
  • High-speed counters and pulse output capabilities
  • PID control functions built into firmware
  • Retentive memory — program survives power loss (battery-backed)
  • Online program editing with forced I/O and monitoring
  • Password protection for program security

Performance Parameters:

Parameter Value
Boolean Instructions 0.1 µs per instruction
Integer Math (ADD/SUB) 0.5 µs
Floating Point Math 5 µs
High-Speed Counter Input Up to 100 kHz
Pulse Output Frequency Up to 50 kHz

Advantages & Highlights:

  • Compact eurocard form factor fits standard PLC racks
  • IEC 61131-3 compliance supports all 5 programming languages
  • Battery-backed RAM ensures zero data loss on power failure
  • Expandable to 256 I/O points for medium-scale applications
  • Built-in communication ports reduce need for additional modules

Applicable Industries:

  • Water/wastewater treatment
  • Food and beverage processing
  • Packaging machinery
  • Material handling
  • Building automation (HVAC)
  • Machine tool control

Installation Requirements:

  • Insert into Series 110 backplane bus or mount on DIN 35 mm rail
  • Connect 24 V DC power supply to terminal block (verify polarity)
  • Connect communication cable to RS-485 or RS-232 port
  • Insert CR2032 battery before first power-up
  • Set mode switch to PROG for programming, RUN for operation

Usage Precautions:

  • Do not insert/remove the module while power is on (hot-swap not supported on all variants)
  • Replace CR2032 battery every 2 years or when “BAT” LED flashes
  • Do not exceed 28.8 V DC on the power input
  • Backup program to PC before any firmware update
  • Ensure proper grounding of the PLC chassis and communication shields
