Working Principle
Field devices send digital, analog or encoder signals to the terminal blocks. Digital inputs pass through optocouplers, analog inputs pass through low-pass filtering and ADC conversion, encoder inputs pass through counter ICs. The board transfers processed data to the IRC5 CPU over the backplane using a cyclic scan, and the controller applies the data to motion control, safety interlock and process logic.
Installation Requirements
Install the board in the designated IRC5 interface slot. Tighten mounting screws to ABB torque specification. Connect 24 VDC external I/O through rated circuit protection. Use shielded cables for encoder and analog circuits. Ground cable shields at the controller earth point.
Usage Precautions
Connect only 24 VDC to I/O terminals. Do not exceed 0.5 A per digital output. Keep the board away from oil mist, coolant spray and conductive dust. Perform configuration only with approved RobotWare tools. Inspect terminals regularly for looseness or corrosion.
